TNews, PESISIR SELATAN –<\/strong> Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan di Sumatera Barat selain dikenal karena keelokan alamnya, juga dikenal karena kelezatan berbagai varietas buah duriannya.<\/p>\n

Terdapat sejumlah varietas buah durian di Pesisir Selatan mulai dari Durian Kunik, Manggi, Jantuang, Taruang, Kambuik dan lainnya. Nama-nama ini diberikan berdasarkan bentuk hingga warna dari daging buah durian.<\/p>\n

Masing-masing varietas memiliki cita rasa yang berbeda, biasanya penikmat durian akan bisa mengetahui rasa dan tekstur buah durian dari varietasnya ini.<\/p>\n

Terkait dengan hal itu, saat ini Pemerintah Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan juga sedang menyiapkan sebuah varietas yang tidak kalah unggul dari varietas yang telah lebih awal di kenal oleh para penikmat durian.<\/p>\n

“Nama varietasnya Ponger,” kata Kepala Dinas Pertanian Pesisir Selatan, Madrianto di Painan, Senin, (08\/07).<\/p>\n

Durian Ponger, kata Madrianto memiliki cita rasa yang khas yang tidak kalah enak dengan varietas lainnya.<\/p>\n

“Daging buahnya tebal dan lembut, penikmat durian akan mendapat sensasi berbeda ketika menyantap Durian Ponger ini,” katanya lagi.<\/p>\n

Selain itu kata dia, buah Durian Ponger juga memiliki bobot yang besar, sehingga akan membawa keuntungan berlipat ketika dibudidayakan.<\/p>\n

“Saking besarnya, maka masyarakat mempopulerkannya dengan nama Durian Gajah Lumpo,” ungkapnya.<\/p>\n

Terkait nama kata Madrianto, sedari awal pihaknya mencoba menawarkan nama Gajah Lumpo sesuai penamaan awal yang diberikan masyarakat, namun karena terhambat regulasi akhirnya tidak bisa dilaksanakan.<\/p>\n

“Sesuai regulasi, khusus terhadap nama varietas tidak boleh disematkan nama binatang, sehingga kami pun mencari beberapa opsi,” imbuhnya.<\/p>\n

Nama Ponger didapatkan setelah dirinya berkonsultasi dengan Bupati setempat, Rusma Yul Anwar, hingga akhirnya nama Ponger pun didapatkan.<\/p>\n

“Ponger itu mewakili nama tempat asal pohon indukan berasal yakni Lumpo,” ungkapnya.<\/p>\n

Sesuai dengan nama awalnya yakni Gajah Lumpo maka jelas bahwa indukan pohon durian berada di Lumpo, tepatnya di areal perbukitan Kayu Manang, Aia Duku, Kampung Lumpo, Nagari Ampang Tareh Lumpo, Kecamatan IV Jurai.<\/p>\n

Berdasarkan surat permohonan pendaftaran varietas yang diajukan oleh Bupati Pesisir Selatan pada 20 Mei 2024, maka Pusat Perlindungan Varietas Tanaman dan Perizinan Pertanian Kementerian Pertanian menyetujuinya melalui surat dengan nomor B-117\/PV.210\/A.9\/06\/2024.*<\/p>\n
